What is ENIAC ?

Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer

In 1943, physicist Dr. John Maclay, in collaboration with John yenham Presper Eckert, an electrical engineer, began creating the first all-purpose electronic computer. The computer, which used nineteen thousand creative lamps in addition to electromechanical components, consumed 130,000 watts of energy and occupied 1,500 square feet, was named after ENIAC, an acronym for Electronic Numerical calculator and integrator. The ENIAC was installed in 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania and at the time was the most sophisticated electronic device in the world. The computer was able to perform three hundred multiplication operations per second and was able to perform 300-day manual labor in one day. The ENIAC computer weighed 30 tons. ENIAC left the round in 1956.ENIAC was originally designed and developed by the U.S. military to calculate missile fire؛ but was later used more publicly in the calculation of hydrogen bombs.
